Connected again

We get so use to internet it is hard to believe some are not "connected"!

After a week with my aunt and cousins (more on that later) I am back on the road again, this time headed back to Texas. I left this morning with intentions of moseying through the back roads of Georgia and leaving the interstates behind, and that is exactly what I did.  Two lane country roads lined with tall trees shading the road with red Georgia dirt lining the shoulders. The ride was gentle and relaxing. Now I know some of you are rolling your eyes........... To continue, I stopped in a few of the little towns at antique shops to browse and stretch my legs. It was a perfectly wonderful drive! I have stopped for the night just over the Alabama state line.

But let me back up a little.

I left Birmingham last Sunday to drive to my aunts in Georgia. I did drive some interstates and then left them behind because I wanted to see if I could find my old home in Smyrna, Georgia. Thank goodness for the GPS because we left there when I was 9 and had no idea where it was. The area had changes a bit.  With the help of my trusty GPS I found it.  It was just as I remembered. My room was the upstairs window.  My closet went into the rafters. I had my very own private playhouse.

Next I drove a street over and found the school I went to. I started school many years ago here! I also found where our church was. I say was because it has been torn down and is now the parking lot of the new improved model.

My Aunt Evelyn loves to play rummy so when I got there she was waiting with her cards!
I could give a day by day description of our days but I think I can give a nutshell version.  We got up leisurely (because we stayed up late playing cards), we went visiting or "shopping" (looking) every day and we played rummy.

I got to spend time at each of my cousin's homes and visit with them. I got to see most of their beautiful grandchildren. We had such a good visit, and we did a lot of laughing. It was wonderful and so sad to only get to see them once a year.

Did I tell you that my Aunt Evelyn is a gardener? Well my Aunt Evelyn is a gardener! This is just a sampling of "her babies".  Well I am not a gardener, but I aspire to be----now that I have some time on my hands.  Soooooo I brought home a garden in the backseat of my car. She had me digging up bulbs and plants and gave me instruction of how to plant them. I am looking forward to having my own "Aunt Evelyn" garden. Ron ---I mean I have my work cut out for me!

Well tomorrow I am going to Montgomery, Alabama and go to the Alabama archives. I look forward to finding some clues to solve some mysteries.

Until later..........God Bless

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
